Updates From the boston RPM BOARD

Dear BRPM Community,

2023 has been a tremendous year!  We have seen both youth and adult programming thrive, welcomed new and returning volunteers and participants, and continued to build and strengthen community and leadership as Boston Raising Powerful Musicians!

Thank you to everyone for being part of our mission to empower girls, women, and gender-expansive youths and adults to believe in themselves by building a supportive community that fosters self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through music education and performance.

Now, on to some important updates:

Staff Departures

As she recently shared, Nina Lee, Director of Session-Based Programs, is departing BRPM for a new opportunity. We’re honored to have had Nina–a former youth participant and inspiring educator–lead our triumphant return to in-person programming over the past 14 months, and we wish her the very best in her next adventure. Thank you, Nina!

In Nina’s own words, “After an unforgettable journey, I am bidding farewell to BRPM! The organization has not only empowered me as a program director, but also as a young camper over a decade ago. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve such incredible youth and adults, who consistently challenge themselves to make amazing art! I extend heartfelt thanks to each one of you for making my time so fun and welcoming! Together, we’ve worked so hard to create a nurturing and strong community where everyone belongs and can flourish. Thank you again, and I look forward to cherishing these memories forever.”

After 11 months serving as Acting Executive Director, we’ll also say goodbye to Amy Lieb at the end of August. We appreciate Amy’s leadership and time, as well as her involvement since 2016 as a participant, volunteer, and board member, and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Thank you, Amy!

In Amy’s own words, “This past year was full of true delight mixed with a bit of surprise: ‘HA!  We pulled it off!’ November Adult Session, We Believe Tour featuring Charlotte’s gorgeous artwork, BEATS Dec Video Premiere, Youth Name Change Committee, March Adult Session, YAP presentations on the impact of disinformation on the LGBTQ community, Name Change Reveal at the June BEATS Video Premiere, and two more weeks of Youth Summer Session. WE DID THAT - together! Thank you to Charlotte Huffman and Nina Lee for giving us such extraordinary programming. We will never forget it. See you in the crowd at the next show!”

Executive Director Search

Our Executive Director search has been in full swing all summer! We have a highly engaged and hard working search committee that has been involved in a smooth process with great candidates to choose from. We are grateful for the wonderful selection of thoughtful applicants. We are in the final stages of the search and hope to have good news to share soon!

As BRPM continues to grow and evolve, we trust the strength of our community to keep the beat going. We’re beyond thankful to everyone who contributes to the magic of BRPM. Contact us anytime at board@raisingpowerfulmusicians.org.
