Adult Sessions

Tap into your child-like energy

Adult Sessions

Adult Sessions are a shortened version of the 5-day program youth participate in the summer. This 3-day-weekend experience is for women, transgender, gender non-conforming, and gender expansive adults, 19 and older, who want an opportunity tap into their child-like energy, build community, and get a deeper understanding of BRPM’s mission and values.

There is no experience necessary to participate, and all instruments and equipment will be provided. Over the three days, you will learn how to play an instrument, write an original song, and perform live with your band!

In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend a variety of music, confidence-building, and social justice-focused workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • All volunteers and participants will be required to have received, at minimum, their primary vaccinations against COVID-19. BRPM is closely monitoring COVID guidance, and will make a decision about masking closer to session. Masks and COVID tests will be available on location.

Participants, Volunteers and Staff are required test everyday of the session. If you need a covid test BRPM can provide you with one.

We are following the latest Covid-19 trends and guidelines from the CDC, the City of Boston, and public health professionals when we make decisions around:

    • The number of participants we admit into the program.

    • Social distancing.

    • Masking policies.

We will continue to post updated information as the Covid-19 situation changes.

  • We know that everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to masking, and we will issue guidance in accordance with local regulations, public health recommendations, and common sense.

Above all, we foster an atmosphere of mutual respect in which all participants can feel safe and comfortable, and without undue pressure regarding masking.

As of 2023, masking is required at all programming. However, BRPM reserves the right to update this policy and will inform volunteers and participants if so

  • BRPM will be consistently monitoring federal, state, and city guidelines to develop safety measures that will allow for us to safely gather in person this summer, including providing PPE, sanitizing equipment, and requiring vaccinations. Since the conditions of the pandemic are ever evolving, we will continue to keep our community informed as we determine policies and protocols.

If our ability to hold sessions is disrupted due to COVID-19 related circumstances, we will either attempt to reschedule the session or determine a refund policy for those registered for the session. Please know that we are doing our best to navigate this unprecedented situation as it unfolds and will continue to communicate as necessary.

Applications & Fees

  • Adult Sessions are for women and gender-expansive folks ages 19+. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that supports and welcomes a wide range of marginalized gender identities and expressions. If you believe this space is right for you, it likely is.

  • The application process has two steps that must be completed before your application will be considered. This information is detailed within the application:

Step 1: Complete the online application– the application will be available September 27th for the November 2023 session. (Contact us if you wish to apply by mail.)

Step 2: Pay the $20 non-refundable Application Fee. (Application fee can be waived; see details within the application.)

  • If you need help, a printable application, or work with someone who needs assistance with applying, please contact us. We’re happy to help!

  • Tuition for BRPM's Adult Sessions utilize a “pay what you are able” sliding scale model from $200 to $1000 because we know that some folks face financial challenges, and that everyones’ access to resources looks different.

BRPM does offer financial assistance. Please indicate the tuition amount that is most appropriate for your situation, given your financial resources. At the same time, please be generous in paying what you are able — we rely heavily on tuition to run our programs and ensure they are accessible for all.

Any amount over $750 is a tax-deductible donation that will continue to help GRCB thrive!

  • Our capacity is 35 adults per session. We will review applications to foster fairness and diversity rather than simply admitting applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. We often receive more applications than we have spots, so we are not able to accept everyone who applies. We typically have a Wait List.

  • If our spots are full, you will be placed on our Wait List. While we cannot guarantee that spots will become available, they sometimes do. We will contact you with any changes in your application status.
